Austin: The capitol of Texas and home to nearly one million residents, the best Tex-Mex tacos, the world’s greatest live music, and the infamous University of Texas Longhorn football team. The razzle-dazzle of Sixth Street nightlife combined with open-air farmers’ markets and dozens of hike and bike trails that hug the edges of Lake Austin and the Colorado River make the city a mecca for people seeking a hip, healthy, and yes, a simply heavenly lifestyle.
So what does a city of sophisticated and sporty outdoorsmen and women have to do with GE and ECLP? The answer is simple. GE is in the business of creating and commercializing innovative, out-of-the box ideas that solve business challenges and meet our customers’ needs. What better place to look for those out-of-the box ideas than in a city like Austin, teeming with young talent, fresh ideas, and creatively-minded entrepreneurs? Whole Foods, the do-your-body-good grocery giant, started in Austin along with Dell Computers and the rising social media intelligence star, Bazaarvoice, to name just a few. On any given day, you might also see the leaders of Austin Ventures, G-51, Daylight Partners and other icons of Austin’s strong venture capital community walking the streets of downtown or making a quick stop at the local Austin Java coffeehouse.
GE ECLP is thrilled to announce that Beth Comstock, Chief Marketing Officer of GE, will visit the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin on Wednesday, November 2nd, as part of her second stop in a host of MBA Campus swings. Beth’s visit will bring together Texas MBA students, professors, and external professionals to engage and interact on opportunity identification, innovation, entrepreneurship, and new business markets - themes that are so much a part of the culture and spirit of the University of Texas and the Austin community. During her visit, Beth will also lead a case discussion centered around a brand new, forward-thinking GE initiative with a select group of 25-30 Texas MBAs.
Beth is very active in social media, and we encourage you to follow her on twitter @bethcomstock to learn about interesting things going on within GE marketing. As you attend the events at the University of Texas, we encourage you to also share your thoughts, comments and feedback with us using the hashtag #geECLPoncampus.
We look forward to seeing you on November 2nd and to the “storming of brains” and brilliant ideas that will take place on this day. Come armed with creativity and ready to share your brilliant ideas with Beth and with GE!
